Reducing electricity power unit consumption in facility management can be achieved by adopting a combination of behavioral changes and implementing energy-efficient technologies. Here are some tips that can help reduce electricity consumption:

  1. Use energy-efficient appliances: Energy-efficient appliances such as LED light bulbs, refrigerators, and air conditioners use less electricity and can save you a lot of money over time.

  2. Unplug unused devices: Even when not in use, or standby, devices like computers, televisions, and chargers can still consume electricity. Unplugging them when not in use can save energy.

  3. Seal air leaks: Sealing air leaks in your home or office can prevent hot or cold air from escaping, reducing the need for heating and cooling, and saving energy.

  4. Use natural light: Open curtains and blinds during the day to let natural light in. This will reduce the need for artificial lighting.

  5. Design your house to save energy naturally: If you get a chance to build, or redesign your home/office, try and ensure you properly insulate your home and also take advantage of cross ventilations, this will help reduce heating and cooling costs.

  6. Outsource high energy consuming chores/activities: Activities like ironing and electric stoves can considerably increase your energy consumption. Where practicable, you might want to consider the cost of using a dry-cleaning service or gas stoves.

  7. Use renewable energy: If possible, consider using renewable energy sources such as solar or wind power to generate electricity for your home/office. This can reduce your dependence on grid power supply and save money in the long run. Please note that solar inverters/alternative energy have high installation costs, but can help save energy costs over a long period of time if used properly.

  8. Educate your family or colleagues: Energy saving measures are a collective effort. If you don't live alone, it is important you carry everyone along in your plan so your efforts can yield desired results within reasonable time.

By adopting these tips, you can reduce your electricity consumption and save money on your electricity bills.
